Road Atop the World - The Beartooth Highway

Nearly everything printed about this road includes the same quote: "... it is an All-American Road that has been called 'the most beautiful drive in America,' by late CBS correspondent Charles Kuralt.  The drive traces a 67 mile course that is made up of an endless series of steep zigzags and switchbacks...to the 10,947 ft high...pass.  The highway opened in June of 1936 and traverses around and through one of the highest and most rugged areas in the contiguous United States, with 20 peaks reaching over 12,000 ft in elevation.  The 67 mile stretch from town A to town B can take over three hours to travel.  Typically the byway is closed due to snow from October through April with a target re-open date of Memorial Day.
